Special considerations before purchasing stone for the home:
Type of stone. While we specialize in mostly granite and marble, there are other types of stone available that are suitable for home installation. It is important to consider the purpose your stone will be serving, as some surfaces are more tolerant than others.
Type of sink. This is a decision of personal preference. Undermount vs. Drop-In? We also fabricate custom granite farmsinks. Ask one of our countertop salesteam members about more information!
Cost of stone compaired to other surface materials. It is often assumed that granite is an expense, sometimes not worth paying. But, granite is indeed a valuable investment, as it will last for lifetimes. Price will vary based on the color of stone, type of stone and edge selection. Our quoted prices do include the cost of installation and all fabrication cut-outs.
Sealer. We often address this topic when speaking with clients who are also shopping with other manufacturerers. When granite is polished, the pores of the stone are sealed through this process, requiring no addition of protective sealers. We do advise for softer stones, like marble and other natural stones, that a sealer be applied to enhance their color and sustainability.
Measuring and Installation. If you are remodling, it is best to: select your stone, approve the slab upon its delivery, schedule to have your countertops removed (a service we do not provide), have the templates made and plan for installation in approximately one week. If you are building new, we suggest you begin your stone selction process roughly three weeks from the date your cabinets are to be installed.
